What the *2$% is this? Keep reinstalling and jumping though hoops to get basic functions to even work? Play with cryptic command line geek code to install a graphics card?

I really want to use Linux but this level of functionality is pathetic! I have mainstream new motherboard and graphics cards from ATI. The dual or 4 screen monitors don't work, whatever I do. The network works when it feels like it (not often). The sound system isn't even recognized. The applications all look like something out of Noah's ark and are barely functional at best.

Sorry, I did try (for weeks) but I am so glad to be returning to Windows 7. Everything works and is 100% stable. No contest.

Linux has about another century to go, then maybe it could be serious competition to Windows 95.

It still refuses to let me use the admin Catalyst settings- and acts like it isn't there. I even put in the Ubuntu Specific package. Am I not doing something right in the super user dept?

I think so Brian. Each time you upgrade your system, you should install it again. Just try to download the latest version and install ^-^

I did the terminal coding as you said- and I got this: "no graphical method available for invoking 'amdcccle' as 'root'. I also have installed the software, and followed the steps. I am using Xubuntu 9.10.
Ummm- wha? Does this mean the administrative version of the Catalyst software didn't get installed properly or something?

Hi Brian,

First, download the latest graphic driver from this link and follow those steps.

Second, run this command in terminal:

sudo amdxdg-su -c amdcccle

If there is something wrong, please report here, so I could help you :). Have fun!
