Qt 4.6 and Creator 1.3 have been released

2 days ago, I received the newsletter from QT that QT 4.6 and Creator 1.3 has been released, please check it out to see the new features.

Before, I have used QT Creator 1.3 beta, but I feel it had been improved so much compared to the previous version.

Nokia has released Qt 4.6, the latest version of the cross-platform application and UI framework. Featuring new platform support, powerful new graphical capabilities and support for multi-touch and gestures, Qt 4.6 makes developing advanced applications and devices easier and more enjoyable.

More Platforms

Qt 4.6 includes support for the Symbian platform for the first time, and also adds Windows 7, Apple Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and the upcoming Maemo 6 to the list of Qt supported platforms. Also available is community support for real-time operating systems QNX and VxWorks. Support for Maemo 5 is also currently in development, with the second technology preview being released today.

GUI Programming with Python: QT Edition

Today, I am searching for a great tool which combines between QT and Python. Finally, I found out one great language is PyQt and language as well PyQt. This book is free under Open Publication License.

As you know, QT and Python both can run on almost popular platforms like Windows, Linux, MacOS and Embedded OS as well. If you don’t know QT and Python, let’s read some introduction and try to search on Google what people say about QT and Python.

Python is a dynamic object-oriented programming language that can be used for many kinds of software development. It offers strong support for integration with other languages and tools, comes with extensive standard libraries, and can be learned in a few days. Many Python programmers report substantial productivity gains and feel the language encourages the development of higher quality, more maintainable code.

Python runs on Windows, Linux/Unix, Mac OS X, OS/2, Amiga, Palm Handhelds, and Nokia mobile phones. Python has also been ported to the Java and .NET virtual machines.

Qt is a cross-platform application and UI framework. Using Qt, you can write applications once and deploy them across many desktop and embedded operating systems without rewriting the source code.

What is Qt?

Qt is a cross-platform application and UI framework. It includes a cross-platform class library, integrated development tools and a cross-platform IDE. Using Qt, you can write applications once and deploy them across many desktop and embedded operating systems without rewriting the source code.

As you know that in the Information Technology field, Visual Studio from Microsoft is the most popular when we were in our universities, so we should learn how to use such complicated IDE and how to program, … Actually, it is very difficult for the beginner because Microsoft always publics new version with addition functions we not always use. Now it becomes very heavy. And what will happen if we use Linux OS ?

When I change to Linux and get used to study Open Source softwares, I found out that QT Programming is the best choice and change my mind ) and never use Vistual Studio again . It had a lot of advantages:

1. A cross-platform application: I can write a source one time and compile cross-platfrom to make it run on Windows, Mac, Linux, .. without rewrite again. This is the best trend of choosing software nowadays.

2. It is free . QT software was released under several open source license: LGPL, GPL and commercial licsense and now it opens for community contributions.

4. QT now have Qt Jambi for Java programming and QT Designer, QT Creator, …

What is Matlab ?

Using the MATLAB product, you can solve technical computing problems faster than with traditional programming languages, such as C, C++, and Fortran. More information

In my major: automatic control, we use Matlab as a great simulation program to test our algorithms and automatic control theory, control system as well. Matlab is the required program that every technical students have to learn in their universities.

How to learn effectively ?

I have more than Six years experience in programming Matlab so I would like to help the beginner of studying Matlab some effective ways to learn Matlab. I want to say that: Programming with Matlab is very easy since Matlab supports every functions you need.

1. Learn from Matlab Help

I rate the Matlab help as the most interesting and fully help I have been seen, because I can easily find a function or a statement I don’t know by using command: help function_name or using search box in Matlab Help window.You can open Matlab Help by pressing F1 button.

In Matlab help, the left listbox is classified by toolbox name so if you want to learn something about Image processing, just go directly to the Digital Image Processing Toolbox and read it. In each toolbox, it have fully definition and example so you will understand deeply how to use each function and how to create example. Please keep reading from the beginning until the end

You also can browse or search some keywords here: http://www.mathworks.com/help.html or simply go directly to Mathlab online help: http://www.mathworks.com/access/helpdesk/help/techdoc/ (I strong recommend this help for you, just read from Getting stared chapter first, it will help you know the way to learn, and make you love Matlab as well )

But you can also view PDF Files that reflect the most recent version of MATLAB and might describe features not available in earlier versions of the software.

2. Learn from some Internet sources

By searching in the Internet with keywords: Matlab tutorials you can easily find out some great Matlab tutorial website but I still recommend some websites:
